The Bald Eagle
by Helen George

Soaring above, on the currents he rides,
Watching for prey as he silently glides,
To watch him from yonder is such a delight,
As he cruises on high, resplendent in flight.

His beak is sharp, his eyesight keen,
With wings tilted down, he slowly careens,
Drifting aloft in an azure-blue sky,
In fluid motion, he passes on by.

A joy to behold whether flying or still,
A creature of God, his majesty thrills,
With freedom and joy may he always abide,
America's emblem of honor and pride.

  4. 9 Jun 2008 usapatriotism.com accepted this poem for listing on their website with two minor revisions. They wanted it to be titled The AMERICAN Eagle as it is necessary for a poem to use the word America or American in it before they can list it. Also, in the last verse, they wanted it changed to "The eagle, OUR emblem of honor and pride." I gave them permission to make the revisions.

  5. 11 Jun 2008 I emailed usapatriotism.com with a different suggestion for revising this poem, if it is not too late.
    New Title: The Bald Eagle
Last Verse: America's emblem of honor and pride.

I made these revisions to this poem in all my own records, as I like it better, even though it may not appear this way on usapatriotism.com
